Melissa Bryant was selected Kenston's Chagrin Valley Rotary Club student of the month for May. She maintains a 4.2 grade point average ranking eighth in the class. She earned A.P. Scholar honors as a junior.
As a Varsity Football and Basketball cheerleader, Melissa has earned All Academic and Scholar Athlete honors. She is the co-president of Teen Institute, Interact and Student Council and is a member of National Honor Society and the Principal’s Leadership Council.
In 2007, Melissa was named Chagrin Valley Chamber of Commerce Student Business Leader of the Year. She is a graduate of the Learning about Business program held at Lake Erie College.
She plans to attend Elon College in North Carolina and major in business.
Cory Barton was selected Kenston's Chagrin Valley Rotary Club student of the month for April. He maintains a 3.927 grade point average and will graduate Magna Cum Laude.
Cory is a member of the varsity basketball team. This year he has been recognized with CVC All Academic Team honors, CVC Second Team All-Conference award and Defensive Player of the Year honors. He has volunteered at the Chagrin Falls Park Community Center and junior basketball camp and skill clinic counselor.
Cory has worked as a landscaper and sales associate in electronics and the garden shop at K-Mart.
He plans to attend Case Western Reserve University and play basketball.
Kathryn Thomas was selected Kenston's Chagrin Valley Rotary Club student of the month for March. She maintains a 4.42 grade point average. She earned A.P. Scholar with Honors as a junior. She has been named a Scholar athlete for Cross Country and Swimming.
In 2006, Kathryn was inducted in the Kenston chapter of National Honor Society. She is the Co-President of Envirothon and secretary of National Honor Society. She is a member of Student Council and the French Club.
She is a four year varsity letter winner in Cross County and Swimming. She qualified for the state Cross Country meet in 2004. She received Honorable Mention honors in the Western Reserve Conference and Chagrin Valley Conference for Cross Country.
She plans to major in mathematics/pre-medicine. Kathryn would like to attend The Ohio State University-Honors College, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Virginia or Dartmouth.
Daniel Ogletree has been selected Kenston's Chagrin Valley Rotary Club student of the month. He maintains a 2.75 grade point average. He has earned All County, All Conference and 2nd Team All District honors as a running back. He has lettered in Football and Track. As a member of the Varsity Football team, Dan worked to collect school supplies to be distributed in the Chagrin Falls Park.
Dan is active as a member of the Minority Achievement Committee and Project Love. He was a member of the 2007 Homecoming Court.
He plans to attend Thiel College in the Fall.
Leah Dancie has been selected Kenston's Chagrin Valley Rotary Club student of the month. She maintains a 3.85 grade point average. She has received Student of the Year awards in Introduction to Business, AP English Language/Composition III, Health/Fitness, Microbiology, Physical Education, Web Design and Advanced Web Design. She won second place in Ohio SMS Stock Market Essay Contest.
She has lettered in Golf, Basketball and Track & Field. She has been honored with an Academic All-Ohio award.
Leah is the president of National Honor Society and the Minority Achievement Committee. She is a member of the Principals Leadership Council, Kenston Krazies and Teen Pregnancy Prevention.
She works part-time at Pizza Pan and Shawnee Hills Golf Course. She has volunteered at Hattie Larlham and the First Tee Program of Cleveland and The Greater Cleveland Junior Golf Program.
She plans to attend Emory University, Duke or Washington University.
T.J. Hrabak has been selected Kenston's Chagrin Valley Rotary Club student of the month. He maintains a 4.3 grade point average. In addition to Student of the Month honors, he has earned Student of the Year honors Business, Computers, Health, Math and Spanish. Until having knee surgery recently, Tom had perfect attendance. He has never been tardy to school.
He has lettered in Academics and Baseball. He received the award for having the highest GPA on the Varsity Baseball team, last year. He has volunteered many hours working on the construction of the new baseball fields. T.J. also plays CYO basketball for Holy Angels Church.
T.J. has been selected to attend the National Leadership Conference and the National Presidential Conference in Washington, D.C.
He plans to attend Mount Union College and major in business management and minor in sports management.
Chelcie Cusumano has been selected Kenston's Chagrin Valley Rotary Club student of the month. She maintains a 3.8 grade point average. Chelcie has earned Student of the Year honors in Chemistry and Sociology.
Chelcie was the Freshman Class President. Currently, she is the secretary of SADD and Vice President of Interact, the student community service organization. She is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish Club, the Political Action Committee of Kenston (PAC K), student council, Kenston on Fire for Christ and the yearbook. She is a three year letter winner for volleyball. She received honorable mention all-conference honors for volleyball.
She has volunteered as a Kenston Community Education Youth volleyball coach. In February, she will travel to Honduras to volunteer with the Salvation Army.
Chelcie will attend either Taylor University or Indiana Wesleyan University were she plans to major in Sports/Christian ministries.
John Behm has been selected Kenston's Chagrin Valley Rotary Club student for October. He maintains a 4.05 grade point average. In addition to Student of the Month honors, John has achieved Honor Roll status every year.
He was selected a Chagrin Valley Conference Honorable Mention sophomore year and Second Team All Conference junior year for football. He also earned the highest GPA of any football player. Last year, he was recognized with CVC Honorable Mention for basketball. He is the captain of the football, basketball and lacrosse teams.
John is a member of National Honor Society, Interact, Teen Institute and SADD. He is currently Student Council vice-president and a class officer. He serves as the student liaison on the district’s health and wellness committee.
John also volunteers in the community. He served as a camp counselor at Fellowship Bible Vacation Bible School. He organized Backpacks for Biloxi, a relief effort collecting over 100 care packages for victims of Hurricane Katrina. He and other Kenston Football co-captains helped to organize the collection and delivery of school supplies for the Chagrin Falls Park community.
He would like to play football in college. Cornell, Colgate, Kenyon, CWRU and Harvard have expressed interest.
Anna Henry has been selected Kenston's Chagrin Valley Rotary Club student of the month. She maintains a 4.3 grade point average. In addition to three Student of the Month honors, she has earned Student of the Year honors for Biology II, Ceramics, Honors English II, Spanish I and World History. Anna currently has perfect attendance.
As an individual she qualified for the Disvision II State Cross Country meet and contributed to a sixth place team finish. She holds three school records in the 4x800 meter relay, Distance Medley and four mile relay. As a sophomore, she earned Most Valuable Player in Cross Country. She has been recognized on the First and Second Team All Conference for Cross Country.
Anna served as editor of the Kenstonian, yearbook. She has participated in Interact for four years and served as treasurer. She is a member of Student Council and National Honor Society.
Anna is a ten year member of the Know Sew Good 4-H Club. As a member, she qualified for Ohio State Junior Fair and served as president, vice president and treasurer. She is active in the Chagrin Falls United Methodist Church teaching and participated in youth group activities.
She is narrowing her list of colleges and is interested in the sciences and education.
