Where Are They Now? Cameron Murray

Olivia HallCameron Murray graduated from KHS in 2007. While in high school, Cameron was a good student involved in many activities including Marching Band. Cameron is currently attending Neumont University in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he is majoring in computer science. He is halfway through his two-year bachelor's degree program. Cameron is extremely busy; attending classes 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Cameron is working in an accelerated program that will allow him to earn his bachelors degree in two years. Each day after classes, Cameron usually spends a few hours working on homework and other projects for school.

From Home Page Cameron MurrayNeumont University uses Problem Based Learning, or a real industry application learning system, which makes graduates highly sought after software developers. Cameron has worked for an auto repair shop and an interactive website for a game trading company in Southern California. Students at Neumont University learn computer science theory through real industry work, which prepares them for upper level positions in software companies. Many of Neumont's graduates get hired as core developers or managers earning more than $60,000 a year, however, that’s just the minimum. Major companies like IBM, Cisco, and CA interview and hire the graduates even before they graduate.

Cameron MurrayWhen Cameron is not busy with his school work, he enjoys hiking, partying, and the night life in Salt Lake. This past spring break, Cameron and a few of his friends traveled to Arches National Park in Moab, UT. On the hike through Devil's Garden, he and a friend climbed to the top of The Devil's Arch. Cameron says it's the coolest thing he has ever done. At his school, Cameron has started an order, which is like a fraternity, called The Neumont Gentleman's Club. The order helps new students integrate to the fast pace of the university and to help them adjust to life in Utah. Cameron has received a few job offers for junior developer positions at Quality Assurance. The salaries of those jobs all exceed $35,000 but are closer to around $40,000 and include great benefits. Cameron hasn't formerly accepted any positions yet, and is just trying to finish his bachelor's degree program in one piece.
