Attention swimmers: The swim season is almost here. Swim practice officially starts November 7, and it's not too late to start your preseason training. Many local swim clubs offer preseason training. The goal of preseason training is to maximize your cardiovascular endurance. Muscular power, endurance, and muscular elasticity will greatly improve your swimming times during competition. Starting the season in a state of good physical fitness will allow you to concentrate on swimming technique which will ultimately improve your times. Getting a leg up on the season is a smart thing to do!
We are also waiting anxiously to find out who our new head swim coach will be. Our previous coach has taken a position at another high school and Kenston has been searching for a new coach for the past several weeks. Word has it that at least 3 people have applied for the position. We certainly hope our new coach has the knowledge and enthusiasm to help propel the team to new heights. The swimmers are hoping to have a coach who is interested in stroke improvement as well as endurance training. With swimming both technique and yardage are vital. We are also hopeful that our new coach will do a good job of promoting the team both at school and with the local newspapers because we definitely have some really good swimmers on our team.
