The Kenston JV basketball team had a huge come from behind victory over Aurora on Friday February 19, 2010. The team played hard, and fought for a victory even though at one point in the third quarter, they were down 16-32. They had a great fourth quarter starting the quarter down by 12 points, and with 18.2 seconds left the Kenston JV were up by 3 points. An Aurora player managed to make a 3 pointer to tie the game up with 4.1 seconds left. With seconds ticking off the clock, Kyle Street managed to hit the open Pat Mueller at the three point line. Pat launched up a three over the Aurora defender and banked it in to put the team up by 3 with no time left on the clock. Mr. C. said that this had to be one of the most exciting games he has witnessed at any level, in any sport, over the past decade, and he said he has probably seen more than 1,500 events (the crowd went crazy, and the players mobbed Pat!).
This was a great way for the JV team to end their season. The JV team started the season out going (5-2) then went through a rough patch of 5 losses in a row. But came through strong and won the last 5 games straight to end the season (12-8). Throughout the season the team played well and never gave up in any game. As you can tell from the Aurora game the scoreboard doesn't matter, they just keep playing until the buzzer goes off. Junior Pat Mueller commented on the JV season by saying, "It was a fun run, and I am very happy that we ended off the season strong, we earned it after all of our hard work and dedication."
