The KHS cheerleaders have started their 2009-2010 basketball season. The cheerleaders were extremely excited for the season to begin! For most of the girls they have been cheering since the end of July with only a month break in November between football season and basketball season. This year's varsity squad consists of juniors, Krysten Clark, Connie Huff, Morgen Lyon, Sarah Piteo, Ellen Reeb, Catherine Rogers, and Taylor Saralli, and sophomore Taylor Morehouse. With two girls on the squad who had never cheered at a basketball game before, they worked very hard to learn all of the new chants and cheers. The first game of the season was a very exciting game versus Orange and it was a fun game to cheer at. "My first ever basketball game was very fun and fast paced. It was overwhelming at first learning everything new when most of the other girls had already done this before, but they helped me through my first game," said Catherine Rogers.
The cheerleaders are also continuing the tradition of making treats and locker signs for their assigned senior each game. Connie Huff said, "It is a lot of work to make something for the boys each game, but we know that they really appreciate everything we do." Along with the varsity squad, the junior varsity and freshman work hard each week. The junior varsity squad is Cassie Stratton, Mackenzie Whitelock, Danielle Gibson, Lindsay Williams, Marina Robertson, Nadine Slezak, Lauren Lane, and Shelby Berger. The freshman cheerleaders are Haylee Brewer, Molly Reeb, Alicia Szemon, Nicole Gattozzi and Anesha Terry.
