This year the varsity boy's soccer squad has been in some very intense matches, some of which we came out of as the defeated team. Even though we didn't win we have played our hearts out and left it all on the field. We played Madison High School on September 11, who gave us a run for our money in the first 40 minutes. We only managed to score one goal in the first half, for reasons unknown. On the other hand, our defense held strong with a core of Alex Tan, and Garret Markley holding the middle strong and with Mike Murphy and myself controlling the wings. In our mid field we had Mark Lundstrom, Jack Rolf, John Pretzlav, Nick Latanzi, and Collin Sheehy all working hard to get the win. Last but not least we had Ethan Bush pushing up top at the striker spot. Subs Schylur Zahner, Jason Bauck, Sean Slaughter, Nick Astalos, Luca Costa, Brett Abele, and Kyle McKnight all played hard.
We held the attacking Blue Streaks back the entire first half with a goal from Jack Rolf. After half time the Blue Streaks came out with a push of energy playing hard and staying in our half of the field for a good five minutes. Then we pushed back and we pushed hard with goals from Ethan Bush, John Pretzlav, Jack Rolf and an awesome left footed goal by Alex Tan. Schylur Zahner said "It was one of the best shots I've ever seen." With the final score ending at 6-0, I would say that all of the men showed up to play that day.
