The Kenston Volleyball Team took home two wins last week. They beat rivals, Chagrin Falls, in three games, scoring 25-14, 25-15, and 25-11. It was an exciting home game for the girls and it really showed the variety and depth in the team. On Wednesday, the girls traveled to Perry and took the Pirates 25-11, 25-10, 18-25, and 25-18. It was a challenge for the girls to play two nights in a row. They struggled in the third game, but came back and fought through in the fourth. Senior captain Megan Wendel said, "Our biggest challenge is to stay mentally tough throughout the season. Especially since we don’t have the hardest conference, staying mentally tough will help us when it comes to the big games."
Over the weekend, the girls earned first place in the Hubbard tournament. Their wins consisted of Jefferson, Beaumont, and Nordonia in the finals. This brings their record to 10-0. The Lady Bombers have so much depth to their team this year; something special that you can’t find often. With ambitious goals, they hope to accomplish a lot. "I believe that this year we are closer as a team, both on and off the court, which positively affects our play. We are a lot deeper when it comes to talent- if someone is having a bad game, we've got someone else who can step up and get the job done," said junior captain, Bailey Sheppard. Senior captain, Lauren Landsman said, "I couldn’t ask for a better start to the season. We have an undefeated record and anything is possible for us this season!"
The ladies play Gilmore tonight at home for Volley For the Cure. Come out and support your Lady Bombers!
