Speech and Debate Excels at States

Mattias TreuThe Kenston Speech & Debate team performed admirably at the Ohio High School Speech League (OHSSL) State Tournament. The State Tournament was hosted by the Cleveland district on the weekend of March 4, 5, and 6. The students were given a drum-out on Thursday. Eight of Kenston’s finest speakers, chosen for their outstanding performance at Districts, were sent to States for a weekend of intense oratory competition.

From Home Page Kenston's team made us proud. In particular, Charleton Uvegas and Amanda Krasowski both advanced to the quarterfinals rounds in US Extemporaneous Speaking and Prose-Poetry, respectively. Junior Taejin Thomas debated his way to the finals in Student Congress, claiming 8th place out of more than 159 competitors. "I owe much of my successes to our dedicated coach, Mr. Marchesi. He inspires me to accomplish great things," said Taejin, with a sparkle in his eye. The debate team has brought yet another successful year to an exciting climax.
