This year Hanukkah is being celebrated from December 11 until December 18. Most people's favorite part of Hanukkah is being with family. Hanukkah is a celebration remembering the cleansing of the Temple after the pagan's had taken it over in 168 BC and worshiped the Greek god Zeus in it. The Israelis won the Temple back in 165 BC, and in their process of cleansing the Temple they needed to light the 8 branched Menorah for eight days, but only had enough oil for one night. Miraculously, God let the Menorah burn for eight days allowing the Temple to be re-sanctified. Nick Gray said, "Even though I'm not Jewish, I think Hanukkah is a great holiday, and it's cool to learn about."
