This Web Design semester is coming to a end and the Cleveland Gladiators page is done till next year. The creators; Ryan Singer, Kevin Street, and Danny Murphy would like to thank everyone who has came and relied on the page to get an update on the Gladiators. We all enjoyed creating this page and hope the students that take this over next year will also have fun with it. Good luck to the Cleveland Gladiators for the remainder of the season and keep pushing for that playoff spot. Goodbye!!!
The Gladiators three game win streak came to an end Friday night when played the Tampa Bay Storm. After the four quarters of play, Cleveland came short ten points, with a 58-48 loss. Otis Amey had 106 recieving yards, and now he has 1,000 yards for the season. Marlion Jackson, also contributed with sixteen carries for 18 yards and two touchdowns. The Gladiators look to regain their momentum Saturaday night at the Q against the Dallas Desperados.
Last Saturday The Cleveland Gladiators defeated The Colorado Crush with a close score of 50-46. At the start of the fourth quarter the Gladiators were leading 34-31, Cleveland’s outside linebacker Karon Riley, had an amazing defensive game, Along with stopping the Crush’s go ahead touchdown by forcing a fumble at the end of the game. Colorado wide receiver Chad Owens took a handoff from quarterback John Dutton and headed to the left. He left the ground in an attempt to cross the goal line in the air. When Riley stepped in swatting at the ball, Riley poked it loose and Owens lost control before hitting the ground. Riley jumped on the ball in the end zone for a touchback, preventing the score. Overall, Cleveland quarterback Raymond Philyaw tossed six touchdowns & completed 28 of 40 pass attempts for 324 yards. Otis Amey had nine catches for 131 yards and four touchdowns, while Robert Redd also had nine receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown. Colorado’s Quarter back John Dutton was 31-of-40 for 272 yards and five touchdowns. The Cleveland Gladiators advance to (7-4), while The Colorado Crush decline to (4-7).
On May 9th, the Gladiators took on the Orlando Predators. The Predators came in to the game with only three losses. The Gladiators came into the game with a 5-4 record. Otis Amey is going to our player of the week once again for his three recieving touchdowns in the Gladiators 62-43 win. They are now on a two game winning streak. Next week they will try to continue to a three game win streak. They will be playing the Colorado Crush. This game is definitely within reach for the Gladiators since the Crush are only 4-6 this season.
Friday night, the Gladiators took on Bon Jovi's Philadelphia Soul at the Q in front of 13,721 fans. Kevin and I were able to witness the game in person. After their loss last week to the Dragons, the Gladiators came ready to play. Philyaw threw 30 passes, completing 25 of them, with 290 yards and five touchdowns. Marlion Jackson, the Gladiator's running back, had eleven carries for 41 yards and four touchdowns. The Soul coming into the game were undefeated, but after four quarters of play they lost their first game of the season, 67 - 55. The Gladiators are now 5-4 and are looking to further improve their record next week when the Orlando Predators come to Cleveland.
