You should try now to transfer to other types of copy as much of your straight-copy speed as you can. Handwritten copy and copy in which figures appear tend to slow you down. You can increase speed on these, however, with extra effort.

An immediate goal for handwritten copy is at least 90% of the straight-copy rate; for copy with figures, at least 75%. Try to speed up balanced-hand figures such as 26, 84, and 163. Key harder ones such as 452 and 890 more slowly.

Copy that is written by hand is often not legible, and the spelling of words may be puzzling. So give major attention to unclear words. Question and correct the spacing used with a comma or a period. You can do this even as you key.

Money is much harder to save than it is to earn. Somebody is always willing to help you spend what you make. If you confuse your needs and wants, you can quickly spend much of it yourself. Often friends and relations can become an additional major drain if you allow them to assist you.

And, Of course, many politicians at all levels think that they can spend your money for you much better than you can do it yourself. It is really amazing how ready some are to spend the money of others. At times their motives may be excellent; at other times, just selfish. So beware.
